Local golfer Satyajyoti Mohanty added one more trophy to his cabinet by emerging champion in the 12th NALCO East Zone Invitational Golf Tournament, which concluded with the team event here at the Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) on Sunday.
The best gross trophy was claimed by Ramit Kapoor, while Lakhi Swain was awarded as the best lady golfer. Prabhuda Ray pocketed the award in senior category. Trilochan Singh of Mowbhandar Railway Club (West Bengal) was adjudged the best outstation golfer. Among the youngsters, Dharmendra Mishra received the trophy in the 19 to 24 handicap category.
NALCO CMD Ansuman Das, Directors SC Padhy, Soma Mondal, V Balasubramanyam and BGC secretary Dulal Pani handed over the trophies at the closing function earlier on Saturday.
Ajay Negi, J N Rath, Jayant Biswas and Ranjit Singh emerged champions in the team event. Over 80 golfers from 15 clubs of eastern India, including teams from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha participated in the three-day and 18-hole stroke-play tournament.
The biggest of its kind in Odisha, the tournament was conducted under the aegis of BGC and featured competition in men, women and veterans categories.
